Description
The Red Magic Daylily and buds in the foreground are wet from a summer rain. A purple coneflower waits in the background for the viewers eye to find. A beautiful mixture of two lovely specimens of the garden in the visual perspective of the evening. Unique staging art for residential and commercial decorating projects.
Echinacea purpurea, the purple cone flower, is native to the Eastern U.S. and oddly enough it's generic Greek name echino means sea urchin because of it's spiney central disks.
The botanical name for the Red Magic Day Lily is Hemerocallis and it is from the family Hemerocallidaceae. The Greek name is derived from the meaning of "beauty" and "day" because this spectacular bloom only lasts for one day and then dies. But what a spectacular show while they are blooming for that day.
